Course Information
Do you work with both adults and children but can’t decide if you need to attend a Paediatric First Aid or Emergency First Aid at Work course or both?
This course is most suitable for those who work with children, teenagers and adults as it covers all ages.
This combined course is perfect for Administrative staff, Teachers, Support Workers or Carers in the Early Years through to Year 13. It is perfect for anyone who may have to deal with both adult and paediatric first aid emergencies at their workplace, and everyone can train together.
2 days of training = 2 x Level 3 certificates!
Course Content
Day 1
- Role of the First Aider + Paediatric First Aider
- Primary Survey
- Secondary assessment
- Resuscitation and defibrillation (adult and child)
- Seizures
- Choking (adult, child and baby)
- Wounds, bleeding and shock
- Bites and stings
Day 2
- Bones, joints and muscle injuries
- Head and spinal injuries
- Foreign body and eye injuries
- Chronic medical conditions and illnesses
- Effects of heat and cold
- Electric shock incidents
- Burns and scalds
- Poisoning
- Anaphylaxis
Course Duration
Contact hours for teaching and assessment must be no less than 12 hours over 2 days. However, it can be delivered over 3 or 4 evenings, if in-house training after work is preferable.
Certification
The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years.
Assessment information
The qualification is assessed both through practical demonstration and written assessment.
A learner must successfully pass both the written and practical assessments to achieve the qualification. There is no grading of the assessment; learners pass or are referred.
